I was away till two days ago, but came home in time to be especially delighted watching the birds that are feasting on the berries of a couple of native dogwood trees in my yard. I can't tell you their names - they're well camouflaged, so I mostly don't see them - just their rustling of the branches where they're hopping from twig to twig, and then their flapping away to do a little digesting before returning for more.
And this morning the treat of a hummingbird flitting from blossom to blossom in my patches of bee balms, quite methodically being sure not to miss a single tubular nectar offering.
