Today is my birthday, and I wrote this poem to celebrate the world.
Yes, there is heartache and break and greed, but look – there are also daffodils.
I'm a firm believer in celebrating all the beauty as we work and fight for a better world for everyone. So, here's a celebratory poem for this morning:
A Wonder
This world was meant
to be celebrated!
Have you seen how
snow sparkles on
bright winter days
and in summer,
red-winged blackbirds swoop
over fields and fight crows in mid-air
Have you heard a band
of Hermit Thrush enchant
a forest in song
In fall, have you ever reached
into a tree and pulled an apple
from the branches, crisp and sweet
Did you know this world is
filled with delights, did you know
your laugh is one of them
Did you know you, too
are a wonder
I’ll be back with more poems this month. Thank you for reading, sharing, and engaging.
You are a wonder!
Happy Birthday!
